The Power of Mentoring Happens in Pittsburgh April 18th

Pittsburgh Professional Women + our friends at COhatch Southside Works announce Women You Should Meet: The Power of Mentoring. This is an elevated networking experience for women in Pittsburgh.

Join us to mix, mingle, enjoy wine and light refreshments, enjoy a clever conversation with Colleen Fedor, Executive Director at The Mentoring Partnership, followed by a structured networking exercise. The topic of the evening is mentoring. Why we need it, why women avoid it and how it can impact and transform lives right here in our hometown.

I can't wait to introduce you to a very special guest Colleen Fedor, Executive Director at The Mentoring Partnership of SW PA. Colleen and her team oversee nearly 500 mentoring programs in our region. She came up with the genius idea to educate each and every school crossing guard in the city of Pittsburgh on how to mentor young children. WHAT!! I cannot wait for you to meet this woman and hear the brilliant projects her organization is working on. We'll be spotlighting a special service for local youth, PACS (Pittsburgh Area Community Schools) and the important mentoring work happening in the region, so come to learn all about it.

Meet Our Guest:

Colleen O’Donnell Fedor has served as the Executive Director of The Mentoring Partnership (TMP) since January 2000.

During her tenure, TMP has increased public awareness of the opportunities for engagement, increased support for mentoring and delivered high quality training services to tens of thousands of staff, volunteers and youth being mentored.  Under her leadership, TMP has embraced its role as a servant leader to the thousands of staff and volunteers who care deeply about children – helping good people bring great mentoring to youth.

In 2014, TMP launched the Everyday Mentoring® Movement.  This nationally recognized effort provides resources that empower adults to maximize their potential to be mentor-like in their everyday interactions with youth.

Colleen is a member of the Board of Directors of Books Bridge Hope and AD99 Solutions; and she serves on the Youth Advisory Committee of Partners4Work.  She has served as Chairperson for the Greater Pittsburgh Non Profit Partnership (GPNP) and MENTOR/The National Mentoring Partnership’s Advisory Board.  She has also served on the Grable Community Cabinet, the Allegheny County Children’s Fund Initiative and as a board member for Amachi Pittsburgh, WISE Pittsburgh and the Steel Valley School District.

Colleen’s leadership, passion and work on behalf of young people has been recognized with her receiving the Director’s Community Leadership Award from the FBI, The Lottie P. Edwards Community Service Award from Mt. Ararat Baptist Church, the 2015 Thieman Award, and the Leading Ladies award from Oakland Catholic H.S.

She and her husband Michael have three adult children who they are most proud of!

Thanks to our friends at COhatch for being the host in April, and to our business partners for making PPW events easy and affordable.
